I can certainly give you some rough ideas. To start, to do live streaming video, assuming you have the equipment on your end, would likely be at least 4 figures per game. You'll need satellite uplinks on your end to stream the video and audio from the arena to a satellite. We will then need satellite down links on our end to push the video and audio to a web server. When I had experience with a similar arrangement a number of years ago, it could cost us more than $15k per 60 minutes. I can get you pricing, but before I do, I'd like to know that a minimum of $5000 per game is acceptable to you because I think it will be at least that. It's very possible that current pricing is up to $20000 per game. I'd also like to know that you have the equipment or are already planning on renting it. Specifically, you'll need an uplink truck similar to the ones you see at professional sporting events. Your video feeds have to get to satellite so we can grab them and stream them on a web server. I can certainly get pricing, but we are talking major dollars and I'd like to know you really can afford this before we spend time getting quotes. My understanding has been that public high schools don't have that kind of money.
The price drops tremendously if you don't do live feeds. It's still not cheap, but it becomes much more affordable because you don't need satellite feeds and the trucks that you need to do it live. Keep in mind that to do it live also will require a video camera that is more like a TV camera because it needs to hook to a truck and stream it to satellite. Most local hockey programs don;t have that type of equipment.
An option to consider......do you have a local station already filing and televising some games? If so, they already have some of this equipment and may be willing to stream it via web for you. However, expect charges from them to do this also.
To give you another comparison, I was traveling during the boys HS tourney in March. I therefore went to the Fox website to watch games streaming over the web. They offered it pay per view because it is not cheap to do. I was able to pay $15 per game to watch it. You may want to consider pay per view as well to help cover costs. Again, this is amazingly expensive to do for a high school program or any program. That's one reason you don't see it often today. I can also tell you that although I was able to watch the boys tourney for $15 per game, the quality was very low and the video was amazingly jittery as it stopped, started, and skipped, and this was Fox doing it. They have high end gear. Please be sure you are not comparing live streaming feeds with streaming video you see everyday on the web. They are not the same thing. It is far easier to do streaming video than live streaming video.
Once you confirm that you have some of the equipment, or will rent it on your end, and you confirm that you can afford an additional $5000 per game minimum, I will pull companies together and get quotes to do this. I just don't want to lead companies into believing this could happen if you don't have the funds to do it. Know that the cost to rent the gear on your end (truck and crew) is likely another $5000 minimum. Therefore, you;re likely looking at a minimum of $10000 per game. Half to me and half to the crew you need to stream it to satellite.
Please call me at 763-494-0381 to discuss if you have questions. This may be easier on the phone. Again, I simply want to be sure that St. Francis HS is serious before I pull quotes from the companies required to do something like this.
